@Tuahantizion: Just spent some time googling it It is indeed a Tibetan Buddhist tradition It's called "天葬 Celestial burial" which was partially derived from India 7th century A.D. due to the Indian monks' visits but it's also documented that it first appeared in circa 7th~8th century B.C. and was done to represent the Ancient Mongolian theistic worship which was based on the legends of the celestial god
